About the Role
Chronicle is looking for a Head of Operations to own the day-to-day running of the business across finance, people, and compliance. This is a broad, hands-on operations role for someone comfortable working across multiple jurisdictions and employment structures, managing both fiat and crypto-native processes, and building the internal systems that let the company scale.
The role spans three broad areas:
EU/Swiss operations and administration: payroll, invoices, contracts, association administration, local providers, and coordination with accountants and authorities
Company operations: internal processes, budgeting support, external invoicing, vendor management, hiring operations, and business continuity
Governance and compliance coordination: supporting ISO 27001, SOC 2, policies, audits, and board level preparations.
Responsibilities
Finance
Manage Swiss payroll and coordinate contractor payments processed through the EOR, ensuring accuracy and on-time disbursement each cycle
Own accounts payable end-to-end: reviewing, approving, and paying vendor invoices via both fiat bank transfers and stablecoins
Own accounts receivable: issuing accurate customer invoices, tracking outstanding balances, and following up to ensure timely payment
Execute multisig crypto transactions, following security best practices for transaction verification, signing, and treasury safeguarding
Crypto-native accounting: monthly reporting of crypto transactions and balances across multiple Safes
Prepare and deliver monthly financial reporting to the external Swiss accountant partner, ensuring records are complete and reconciled
Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, from onboarding through coordination on service delivery and billing
Manage and reconcile company credit card accounts, resolving discrepancies each month
Manage expense reimbursement processes for the team, both directly and through the EOR, ensuring timely and accurate payouts
HR
Manage the day-to-day relationship with the Employer of Record, ensuring employee records, contracts, and payments stay accurate and current
Own onboarding and offboarding procedures, making sure new hires are set up smoothly and departures are handled cleanly and compliantly
Run hiring processes end-to-end: sourcing candidates, screening resumes, managing interview scheduling and feedback collection, and coordinating with hiring managers through to offer
Manage internal HR policies, updating them as the company scales and adapting them to new jurisdictions or employment structures
Plan and execute company offsites, handling logistics, budget, and travel coordination
Legal & Compliance
Review quarterly Swiss VAT filings and annual tax filings prepared by external partners for accuracy before submission
Maintain accurate financial and legal documentation to support audits, fundraising due diligence, and institutional partner reviews
Prepare clear, board-ready financial reporting documentation
Own operational compliance workflows in support of ISO 27001 and SOC 2, including policy upkeep and evidence collection
Required Skills & Experience
3+ years in an operations or finance operations role, ideally at an early-stage or high-growth startup
Experience managing accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoicing and vendor payments
Comfort working with both fiat and crypto-native payment rails, including stablecoins and multisig transaction workflows
Experience running payroll across multiple jurisdictions and employment structures (direct employment, EOR, contractors)
Experience managing full-cycle hiring and core HR operations (onboarding, offboarding, policies, documentation)
Comfortable preparing financial documentation for board reporting, audits, and due diligence
Strong written communication skills and high attention to detail
Self-directed and comfortable operating with ambiguity, this role involves building processes as much as running them
Nice to have
Solid Swiss or EU operating experience
Enough German to work with local institutions and service providers
Experience with payroll and employment administration
Comfortable working in a crypto or technology scale-up
Proactive in building operational systems, not only reliable with administration
